Recurring events
Repeat a booking weekly or monthly, then change one date or every upcoming date in the series.
A weekly office lunch or a monthly school night only needs to be entered once. Make the first event repeat and CurbsideOps puts every date on your calendar.
Each date in a series is a real booking of its own. It has its own truck, its own crew and its own sales, so a rained-out Tuesday never affects the Tuesday after it.
Make an event repeat
Start from the create dialog
Create the event as usual (see Create and edit events), with the date and time of the first occurrence.
Pick a pattern
Under When & where, open Repeats and choose a pattern: Every day, every week or every 2 weeks on that weekday, every month on that day or on that weekday of the month (for example the second Tuesday, or the last Friday), or Custom... for your own interval, weekdays and monthly rule.
Say when it ends
Under Ends, pick On date or After a number of events. The dialog shows a plain-language summary of the series, or the reason it cannot be saved yet.
Save
Click Create event. Every date is created right away and appears on Schedule and in Google Calendar.
Limits
- A series needs at least 2 events.
- A series can have at most 104 events, and it can run at most 12 months from its first date. Weekly for a year fits; daily for a year does not.
- Every series has an end. To keep going after it ends, duplicate the last event and start a new series.
You can also make a duplicated event repeat in the same dialog, which is the quickest way to start next season's series.
What each date copies
Every occurrence copies the first one's title, times, place, contact, notes and pricing setup. It does not copy:
- the truck and the crew, which you assign per date;
- any sales figures. Each date starts with the pricing filled in and nothing collected.
Customer emails go out for every date, the same as for any booking, because each one is a real event.
Edit one date or the whole series
When you save a change to an event that repeats, CurbsideOps asks what to change:
- This event only changes just that date. It keeps its own details from then on, so later series edits skip it.
- All upcoming events in the series applies your change to every date from today on. Past dates never change, and each date keeps the truck and crew already assigned to it.
A series edit takes the new start time and length from the event you edited. To move the dates themselves, change the repeat rule. New dates the rule now produces are added; dates it no longer produces are removed.
When you delete, you can remove This event only or This and all upcoming events, which ends the series the day before.
Dates with money are never removed
A rule change or a delete never removes a date that has payments, an invoice, started work or a pre-pay page. Those dates are kept and listed so you can deal with them by hand.
What counts as edited by hand
A series edit updates every upcoming date that still matches what the series last wrote, and skips the rest. A date counts as edited by hand when:
- you saved it with This event only and changed something the series controls (title, time, place, notes);
- you dragged it to another time;
- it was changed outside CurbsideOps, for example directly in Google Calendar.
Assigning a truck or crew, entering sales, changing the event's status or confirming its address never counts as an edit, so routine work on a date does not cut it out of the series.
After a series edit, a summary lists what was updated and every date it skipped or kept, with the reason (Edited on its own, Changed outside the series, Has payments, an invoice, started work or a pre-pay page). Open any of them to update it yourself.
The event window shows that an event repeats, for example "Repeats weekly on Tue, 4 of 12", and whether it was edited individually.
